Ownership of the leased asset

When entering into a financial leasing agreement, the ownership of the leased asset remains with the bank (lessor) until the lease payments are fully paid. This, in turn, ensures that the client reduces the risks of arrest, inventory, and seizure of property.

How leasing is accounted for and taxed:

The leased asset is accounted for and depreciated on the customer's balance sheet. Upon acceptance of the lease from the lessor, the customer receives a tax credit for the total amount of the leased asset. Interest and commissions as part of the lease payment are not included in the VAT base and are expensed, reducing the corporate income tax liability.
